Hello there, I would like to thank you for visiting this site. Allow me to introduce the concept of Memoirs of Malaysia (or MoM for short). We have progressed a lot since the days before independence. Life is so much easier now as technology has made its presence felt. Everything right now is so … convenient. But yet, I do believe that in this very age, our values and traditions are facing and experiencing a very steep decline. People are beginning to forget their roots; the struggle and pain that our forefathers had experienced in the years gone by. The society that we live in now is also a vastly changed one from the one that was commonplace 20 or 30 years ago. People back then were generally much calmer, relaxed and friendlier. You could put the blame on the pressure that the citizens of the world are facing today, but that doesn’t really justify things the way they are now. I believe that we have the power in ourselves to change the way life is now. To be able to change the world, we must first be able to change ourselves. How we look at life, and how we want to interpret it. Memoirs Of Malaysia is meant to be an anthology of some sort that portrays the journey that Malaysia has gone through. The trials and struggles that Malaysians has faced. The joy and sorrow that we have seen through the passage of time. I think that if we can compile a ‘storybook’ that can be read by all Malaysians, we can truly appreciate the changes that we have gone through, and also realise that we haven’t necessarily changed for the better. Stories may sometimes work wonders. I am sure we all remember the experience when we were children and our grandparents or parents would sit us down and relate their stories to us. We would then be so enthralled and caught up in the excitement of the picture that they have painted for us. To be able to spend time running in the paddy fields, roaming the jungle in search for an adventure, the days of trying to trap fishes and birds … It is these kind of memories that have gone extinct now … the same memories which, I believe, if invoked would trigger some reaction for the masses. So I now appeal to you, to write and contribute your memoirs of Malaysia to this site. Let us preserve some of Malaysia's rich heritage for the young. Thank you.
